Colour is very important when designing a skin. With this in mind Nucleus includes a number of features to assist you. First of all we have the ColorPicker control.

This control allows you to pick any colour in a point and click manner just like many graphics applications. As you drag the mouse pointer across the palette you will see the colour of the selected element change right there on screen in your browser.

The second feature to assist you is the adorable Color Buddy

Color Buddy remembers the colours you are using and creates a nice palette so you can easily choose any colour already in use. All you need to do is to double-click in any colour field and Color Buddy will pop up. If you just type an exclamation mark in the colour field Color Buddy will open.

And because the point is to have some fun too, put a question mark in any colour field and Color Buddy will pick a colour at random for you!

There is another gem that you will find helpful. This is not part of Nucleus but an Add-on for Firefox; Rainbow by Heather Arthur. This little add-on allows you to identify the colour of anything visible in your browser. I find this helpful when placing a background image. It allows me identify the background colour required, to ensure a smooth transition from the image to the rest of the page. You can find more information here.
